Web Design and Development for a Marketing Consultant

M.Y. Visual Productions

A minimalist portfolio that gives a wide range of creative work one clear, confident home.

The Client

A wide creative range that needed a single point of focus.

Miranda is a marketing consultant and multidisciplinary visual designer. Her work spans social media and website management, branding, video, pitch decks, photography and fine art, for clients from small local businesses to larger organizations.

She came to us for a dedicated portfolio with a minimalist direction, one that would present every discipline with clarity and let the work speak first. Within that direction, she gave our team creative freedom.

The Challenge

A lot of range, and no clear way through it.

Miranda’s portfolio lived on a Google Sites page that had grown to ten pages. To give her work the presentation it deserved, six problems had to be solved together.

  1. Work behind menus

Visitors opened a Services dropdown with six subpages, and on smaller screens the labels were cut off. They had to guess where the work they wanted to see was kept.

  2. Mixed material, no common frame

Client flyers, screenshots, slides, phone photos and artwork came in different colors, sizes and crops. Side by side, they competed with each other instead of reading as one body of work.

  3. A contact page that was not working

Clients had no reliable way to reach her, and without a favicon the site looked unfinished in the browser tab.

  4. No custom domain

Miranda preferred not to buy a domain, so the site had to run on a free address and free tools and still feel professional, load quickly and stay reliable.

  5. Little written context

Most projects came with images and few descriptions, so we had to present the work clearly without inventing claims on her behalf.

  6. A broad audience

The site needed to feel credible to small local businesses and to larger organizations alike.

Our Approach

Quiet design, so the work can lead.

Miranda asked for a minimalist direction. We treated that as a discipline: every decision either helped a visitor find the work or got out of its way.

01

Structure first

Five pages replace ten. The Work page filters by Branding, Social media, Websites, Pitch decks, Photography, Fine art and Video, and every project opens into a gallery with arrows, swipe, keyboard control and thumbnails. Each service links straight to its filtered projects.

02

One visual language

A warm beige palette, a serif and sans-serif pairing and matching cover images give every project the same frame, so flyers, screenshots, photographs and paintings sit together without any of them being altered.

03

Built to stay light

Static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript, with no framework or database, hosted on Cloudflare’s free plan. Images are WebP with lazy loading, videos load only when played, and every page was designed phone first and checked at phone width.
